Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, that is designed to stop the so-called email spoofing where an email message can be sent from one e-mail address, but to seem as being sent from another, frequently with the purpose to fraud the recipient in some way. If SPF protection is activated for a domain, a special record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers globally have it. The record contains all of the email servers that are allowed to send valid messages from an address part of the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and if the sending server is authorized, the message is sent to the targeted receiver. When, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the particular domain, the email message will not be submitted and it will be removed. Whenever you employ this solution, it will stop third parties from sending spam that appear to have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Cloud Web Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for any domain name hosted in a cloud web hosting account on our cloud platform with no more than a couple of clicks. The feature is available in the Emails section of our modern Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to activate it is to select one of your domains from a drop-down menu and type in the hostnames along with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers that will be authorized to send messages from your email addresses. As an additional option you can also restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain only if it has our MX records, in other words if our servers manage the emails for it, not a third-party provider. This option offers you the highest degree of safety, but it is not applicable if only your web site is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain are taken care of elsewhere. Regardless, the SPF protection service will keep your emails secure from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection function comes with all the Linux semi-dedicated services, so when you host your domains in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you are able to activate this service easily for any of your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, offers a rather user-friendly interface, so you won't need to be tech-savvy in order to secure your email addresses. You will simply need to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you'd like to be permitted to send out emails from your addresses and right after that the updated record will be activated for the domain name that you have picked. As an additional option, we'll also allow you to limit the outgoing e-mail messages and secure your mailboxes even further by permitting e-mail messages to be sent only if the domain name involved has our MX records i.e. the email messages for the domain should be taken care of here and not by some other provider. In this way you'll have even better control and there will not be any chance for someone to counterfeit your e-mails for malicious activities.
